The United Methodist Women

The United Methodist Women shall be an organized community of women whose PURPOSE is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church. The FBUMC UMW meets monthly September through June.  Meetings are held in Gage Fellowship Hall on the second Thursday of each month beginning at 9:30 am--We are on hiatus until September!  We also encourage you to bring a prospective member, friend, or your spouse.  All women of the church are encouraged to participate in the UMW.  For additional information contact Carol Elliott, President at 439-2094.  Click here for our Monthly Events

Wisdom Circle
An extension of the UMW, this group meets in members homes on the first Tuesday of each month and does local community outreach as well as participating in studies and fellowship.  Wisdom Circle is in charge of the "Baby Chest" in the Narthex of the Church.  Once the chest is full it is distributed to one  of the local agencies working with pregnant women.  Wisdom Circle also makes school and health kits for the United Methodist Church and sends them to the local distribution center.  The Wisdom Circle is on hiatus until the first Tuesday in September

Graduation Bibles & Scholarships
The United Methodist Women present bibles each year to our church youth graduating from High School. In 2010 bibles were presented to Amber Colson, granddaughter of Bernice Hull and to Mackendie Toussiant and Tequilla Brewster The UMW and UM Men take applications for their annual scholarships from January through March of each year. To be eligible for the scholarship you must be enrolled in or accepted to a college, technical or trade school. You do not have to be a graduating senior in high school to apply, you can already be enrolled in college. You must reapply each year to be considered for the scholarship. This year's recipient was Amber Colson, who will begin her studies at St. John's River Community College in August, her goal is to become a high school English teacher.
